Forbes ranks Crummer
one of America's best regional business schools. The only Florida
business school ranked by Forbes
Forbes magazine ranked the Crummer Graduate
School of Business’ full-time M.B.A. program at Rollins College
among the top 25 regional schools nationwide in a study to be published
in the October 15, 2001, issue of the magazine. Rollins made a leap
to 12th from 24th since the first ranking by Forbes, which appeared
in February 2000.
"Once again Forbes magazine
has confirmed what our faculty, students, alumni, and corporate
recruiters already know, that the Crummer School at Rollins College
prepares M.B.A. students to be managers and leaders in a way that
provides our stakeholders with real value and a world-class business
education of distinction," said Crummer Dean Craig McAllaster.
"The Forbes ranking is not a popularity contest but
rather an unbiased evaluation of the economic value of a Crummer
degree. The fact that we have moved up so dramatically speaks
to the quality of the graduate programs we offer."
The Rollins M.B.A. program is the only graduate
business program in the state of Florida ranked by Forbes.
Unlike other surveys, Forbes did a comprehensive ranking of business
schools that compared the cost of attaining an M.B.A. to the monetary
rewards for obtaining the degree. Schools were divided into two
groups: national schools with a median cost (tuition and opportunity
cost of foregone salary) of more than $95,000, and regional schools
with a median cost of less than $95,000. Crummer ranked 12th on
the list of regional schools, which included such other prestigious
business schools as Wake Forest, Purdue, Ohio State, Tulane, Rice
University and Penn State. Previously, Forbes cited Crummer for
its innovation in offering a one-year M.B.A. degree program.
In computing the rankings, Forbes calculated
that a Crummer degree, through increased earning potential, pays
for itself in slightly more than three years. Crummer's tuition
for the two-year Early Advantage program, designed for students
with limited work experience, is $43,640, while the Accelerated
M.B.A. program, an intensive 53-credit hour, one-year program, costs
$34,920.
The Crummer Graduate School of Business
at Rollins College is global in perspective with roughly a quarter
of its full-time student body attending from outside the U.S.
M.B.A. programs at Rollins are fully accredited by the AACSB International
(the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the
premier accrediting agency for business schools. Graduates
of the program are employed by top international firms such as FedEx,
Walt Disney World, Darden Restaurants, Tupperware Corporation, CitiCorp,
and Raymond James & Associates. Founded in 1885, Rollins
College is Florida’s oldest recognized college, and is consistently
ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of “America’s best
colleges.”
